Getting to the Meeting Sites via Public Transportation
The main meeting venue (Lakeshore Assembly Hall) and hotel (Four Points Sheraton) are both located in the west end of Toronto close to Lake Ontario.
The Lakeshore Assembly Hall is located on the SE corner of Lakeshore and Kipling- easily accessible by the Queen streetcar #501 (direction- west: make sure to take the Long Branch). It is about a 25 minute ride from the hotel (located at Lakeshore and Windemere) and costs $2.25. The street car stop is directly north of the hotel at Windemere and Queensway.
The workshops on Thursday and the reception on Thursday evening will be held at Metro Hall located in the core of the City at King and John. It is accessible by streetcar (Queen #501 heading east, Cn$2.25) Get off at John Street - you will know that you are John because you will see the "Much Music" building that is very hard to miss. Walk south two short blocks to King Street and Metro Hall which will be on your left hand side. Trip time 45 minutes. Alternately take the subway from High Park station to St. Andrew Station (ask for directions to the subway at the hotel). From St. Andrew Station you can get to the Metro Hall through the Cities underground pathways; just follow the signs.
Please note: Parking at the Lakeshore Assembly Hall is limited, especially on Friday, so the use of public transportation is strongly encouraged. There are public parking lots available near Metro Hall and at the Four Points Sheraton.
Back from the Hotel: Heading back from the Metro Hall, take the 501 Longbranch Queen Street Car. From the Assembly hall back to the hotel, take the 501 Queen Street Car East. From either direction get off at Windermere. Head south on Windermere and it will be on the corner of Windermere and Lakeshore.
Taking Public Transportation from Downtown Toronto to the Assembly Hall: For those coming from the Northern Greater Toronto Area, or in downtown Toronto close to the Bloor/Danforth (East/West) subway line, there is an alternative route. Take the Bloor/Danforth line west to Kipling Station. From Kipling take the Buss 44 South to Humber College, which is right next door to the Assembly Hall. After 6 a.m. it runs every 10 minutes and does not take longer than 15 minutes to get to the Assembly Hall.
