Communities
A community can be defined as a group of people of any size whose members reside in a specific locality and share resources needed to survive. A community can be a small rural community or a large metropolitan area. Size is not as important as understanding what all the 'shared resources' consist of, including who else uses the shared communities. In addition, some of the projects are specifically called 'sustainability indicators' but others are referred to as 'quality of life' or 'healthy community' or some other type of indicators. Regardless of the name or size of the region, the links below lead to communities working on ways to measure progress that leads to a more sustainable community. The communities in this list are grouped into three categories according to the size of a community:
Local Communities
The communities listed here are primarily single municipalities or a single county. At this level sustainability indicators efforts are lead by many different types of organizations from governmental agencies to grassroots groups to chambers of commerce.
